A ministra da Casa Civil, Miriam Belchior, exonerou na manhã de sexta-feira, 3, a presidenta da Funarte, Maria Marighella, desde 2023 no posto. Ela deixa o cargo para concorrer na eleição para deputada federal pelo PT da Bahia. Neta do guerrilheiro Carlos Marighella, ex-vereadora em Salvador, Maria é um dos destaques da gestão cultural do governo Lula, e ela afirmou que sua candidatura nasce de uma expectativa do próprio presidente.
Na presidência da Funarte, Maria fez uma gestão de timing político forte, marcando presença não apenas na construção de políticas públicas, mas em momentos de desmandos na cultura, como na demolição ou desapropriação de teatros em São Paulo, caso do Ventoforte, no Itaim Bibi, e do Teatro do Contêiner, no centro da cidade – embora com pouca efetividade. Já no primeiro ano no cargo, lançou programas de fomento de mais de R$ 100 milhões pela vinculada do Ministério da Cultura. Também se engajou na promoção de políticas caras ao presidente, como o ensino em tempo integral.
Segundo Maria Marighella, o Congresso Nacional está atualmente sediciado por uma bancada majoritariamente antidemocrática, com uma agenda de chantagem política e sequestro do orçamento. Ela acredita que é necessário bater-se pela melhoria da representação popular no MinC, de preferência com uma “vanguarda” política.
