Ao reforçar o sobrenome e associá-lo ao Brasil, Lula da Silva cresce aos olhos daqueles que não haviam sido seduzidos por seu apelido

A campanha de Lula a um quarto mandato na Presidência da República começou, para valer, com o lançamento do jingle “Rap do Silva”, baseado no funk homônimo composto e lançado pelo MC Bob Rum em 1996.

O acerto não poderia ser maior. Tanto na música quanto na letra.

Comecemos pela música. As campanhas eleitorais no país foram, por décadas, marcadas pelo samba, seja o samba-canção, seja o samba-enredo, com algumas variações, como o samba-exaltação. Toda campanha passava por um ou pelo outro, quando não pelos dois. “Sem Medo de Ser Feliz” (1989), de Hilton Acioli, é um samba-canção.

Por décadas, o “Lula-lá”conquistou eleitores para Lula com sucesso, de modo a que nenhuma outro jingle lhe fazia frente. Lula e o PT ganharam o coração e as mentes de milhões de pessoas, o suficiente para ganhar as eleições de forma apertada, mas muita gente ainda resiste a ele. Como mexer com a vontade de quem há 40 anos rejeita Lula?

O novo “Rap do Silva” apresenta uma saída.

A preservação da cadência e da estrutura melódica do “Rap do Silva” original fala com um novo Brasil, em que as variações do samba não são tão hegemônicas entre as classes populares. Novos clássicos foram construídos nas últimas décadas, e a música do MC Bob Rum é uma dessas constantes nos bailes funk, ouvido e reescrito em múltiplos samples. Ou seja, a melodia e a batida do “Rap do Silva”, assim que começam a tocar, sensibiliza, gerações de brasileiros que têm menos de 40 anos e conhecem a música de cabeça.

É uma música que tem, também, um impacto sentimental, estimulando uma certa nostalgia, ligando o presente ao passado. Para usar a palavra do momento no discurso publicitário, o “Rap do Silva” é uma música de conforto, uma música que nos coloca num lugar de pensar na vida e não se deixar levar para loucurada das fake news. O “Rap do Silva”original, tanto quanto o novo, que reproduz seus arranjos, faz parar para pensar, primeiro passo para abrir uma conversa.

Aí entra a letra.

Lula continua sendo, para as pessoas que não o aceitam, um homem popular demais, um peão que não evolui, não conseguiu construir seu nome e continua sendo por demais alguém inferior, a quem as pessoas se referem apenas pelo apelido, como se ele não tivesse sobrenome, ou seja, não fosse respeitável.

Nos últimos anos, no entanto, o sobrenome Lula da Silva foi se consolidando. Primeiro, nos documentos do próprio Lula. Depois, no sobrenome dos familiares: a esposa que morreu antes da prisão, Marisa Letícia Lula da Silva, o filho adotado (o que é bem contado na biografia Marisa Letícia Lula da Silva, de Camilo Vannuchi) e a nova mulher, Janja, que, como o presidente, ficou primeiro conhecida pelo apelido, mas assumiu o nome completo de Rosângela Lula da Silva (ela já era Silva antes do casamento).

O funk do Lula da Silva dialoga com muitos desses homens e mulheres conservadores que, a partir desta operação, talvez se abram para a história do homem que foi Lula e que agora é Lula da Silva. Aquele que construiu o próprio sobrenome, que conquistou o respeito de outros homens e mulheres, por vezes de sobrenomes pomposos, e que agora está sendo tratado de igual para igual por grandes políticos de todo o mundo.

O “Rap do Silva” remete a uma história de reconhecimento do funk como ritmo musical legítimo. É uma história triste, de um Silva que é morto nas ruas, “cuja estrela não brilha” (numa provável referência a “Sem medo de ser feliz”), que “era funkeiro, mas era pai de família”. O funk do Lula inverte essa história, de um Silva que é “trabalhador e família” e cuja “estrela brilha” como nos versos de Hilton Acioly.

Mais que isso, reforça a ligação do presidente com o sobrenome mais popular do Brasil. Os jovens não vão se lembrar, mas uma vez Lula fez uma piada com Leonel Brizola. Desesperado para ganhar votos em São Paulo, Brizola encontrou parentes no estado para visitar. Lula, sempre com bom humor, chegou a Porto Alegre, abriu uma lista telefônica (para os mais jovens que me leem, era um livrão que trazia o nome, número e endereço de todo mundo que tinha telefone numa cidade) e brincou, mostrando que havia mais Silvas em Porto Alegre que Brizolas em São Paulo – ou em qualquer outro lugar do Brasil.

Silva é o sobrenome mais comum dos brasileiros. Deriva do latim e significa, literalmente, “Selva”. Já era usado em Portugal, mas com a conquista da América passou a ser adotado não só pelos descendentes dos portugueses, mas também pelos “silvícolas”, ou seja, os indígenas escravizados do território e os africanos trazidos à força – muitas pessoas sem origem familiar definida tornaram-se Silva.

Essas características fazem de Silva o sobrenome do povo brasileiro, usado por mais de 4 milhões de cidadãs e cidadãos.

E aqui está talvez o maior acerto histórico do funk. Ao cantar Lula como um Silva e passar a brandir orgulhosamente o sobrenome que o apelido escondia, o jingle transforma em narrativa justamente uma das histórias mais bonitas dos governos petistas: a de garantir cidadania plena a milhões de brasileiros, ou seja, de Silvas.

O novo“Rap do Silva” se torna, assim, uma síntese não só da história pessoal de Lula, mas da própria história recente do Brasil. E nesse sentido, nesta campanha eleitoral em particular, em que a tentativa de interferência do país de Donald Trump é explícita, passa a fazer ainda mais sentido um meme que vi por aí. O“Rap do (Lula da) Silva” é o “funk do Brasil com S”, em oposição ao filho de BoZonaro, o do Brazil com Z.

Ou seja, além dos milhões de brasileiros que já votavam em Lula, a campanha de 2026 caminha para garantir milhões de votos no Silva.
