Toda musa carrega dentro de si uma versão que nunca foi contada. Musa, por definição, fala através da obra de outro. Gala Dalí (1894-1982) foi uma dessas figuras que a história tratou de enquadrá-la numa moldura: companheira, modelo, inspiração de Salvador Dalí. O monólogo Gala Dalí, escrito e interpretado por Mara Carvalho, tem a ousadia de estilhaçar essa moldura, e lançar os cacos no colo do espectador.
A peça Gala Dalí cumpriu temporada no Teatro Sérgio Cardoso antes de chegar ao Mi Teatro, espaço cênico localizado nos fundos do Mientras, um restaurante espanhol que levou Mara até o pintor surrealista e, de lá, até Gala. A conexão é menos casual do que parece. Há algo de poético em recontar a história de uma mulher nascida na Rússia, que se muda para Paris aos 17 anos, imortalizada na Catalunha, num espaço que já nasce com sotaque espanhol.
Mara, que aos 13 anos saiu sozinha de casa para viver numa grande cidade, escolheu narrar a história a partir dos últimos anos de Gala, ainda lúcida, irreverente e pronta para ajustar as contas com a narrativa oficial. É uma boa escolha dramatúrgica: o que interessa não é o que os outros disseram sobre ela, mas o que ela diria sobre si mesma se tivesse tido voz. “Alpinista social? Não. Calculista e ambiciosa? Sim”, declara a atriz, sem qualquer constrangimento. É o tom da peça inteira: direto, sem reverências, confessional, impermeável ao julgamento alheio.
O problema, e aqui está a fabulação mais corajosa de Mara, é que há pouquíssimos registros da própria Gala. Muito foi escrito sobre ela por Dalí (“Quando me juntei a Gala encongtrei a minha coluna vertebral e ao fazer amor com ela, preenchi minha própria pele”), por Paul Éluard, por galeristas e críticos. Mas ela mesma deixou rastros mínimos. Construir um monólogo a partir desse silêncio é, em si, um gesto político: afirmar que o apagamento não é lacuna, mas escolha. E que cabe à arte preencher o que o machismo estrutural fez questão de deixar vazio.
Mara vasculha a infância de Elena Ivanovna Diakonova (nome de batismo de Gala Dalí) e a fase em que ela se tornou musa de uma geração inteira de surrealistas, antes mesmo de conhecer Dalí. Éluard, seu primeiro companheiro, lhe dedicou versos; Max Ernst a incluiu no único retrato coletivo do grupo em que uma mulher aparece. Com os dois, viveu uma relação a três por anos. Ela era reconhecida, influente, decisiva. E, no entanto, quando o assunto é o surrealismo, são os nomes dos homens que são lembrados.
Com Ulysses Cruz na direção, a montagem aposta na frontalidade do monólogo sem recorrer a recursos espetaculares. O espaço íntimo do Mi Teatro não permite muitas opções: a peça é quase uma conversa, uma confissão, um acerto de contas, feito com uma taça de vinho na mão. Mara sustenta essa intimidade com uma interpretação que equilibra o humor corrosivo e a melancolia sem forçar nenhum dos dois. A Gala Éluard Dalí que ela constrói não pede simpatia, mas reconhecimento.
O que fica não é a história de uma musa. É a história de uma estrategista que entendeu, antes de qualquer teoria feminista contemporânea, que o único jeito de uma mulher do século 20 entrar para a história era se tornar indispensável para um homem que já estava nela. E que, ainda assim, soube fazer desse jogo uma obra própria.
