“A chuva cai lá fora/ você vai se molhar/ já lhe pedi, não vá embora/ espere o tempo melhorar/ até a própria natureza/ está pedindo pra você ficar” são os versos que abrem “A chuva cai”, sucesso retumbante de Beth Carvalho (1946-2019), lançado pela cantora em 1980. São fruto da parceria dos portelenses Casquinha (1922-2018) e Argemiro Patrocínio (1923-2003) — ou Argemiro do Pandeiro. Ou ainda Argemiro da Portela.
Tirando álbuns coletivos da Velha Guarda da Portela e gravações de nomes como Zeca Pagodinho, Teresa Cristina e Marisa Monte, entre outros, Seu Argemiro só viria a estrear em disco um ano antes de seu falecimento, com o lançamento do álbum que levava seu nome, produzido pela última para seu selo Phonomotor — uma edição em cd, à época em que esta mídia dominava o mercado fonográfico, juntava também a estreia de outro bamba da Portela, também de solitário álbum solo: Jair do Cavaquinho (1922-2006).
As 16 faixas do único álbum de Argemiro são um desfile de poemas e melodias de primeira qualidade, de autoria de um sambista do quilate de Paulinho da Viola ou Nelson Cavaquinho (1911-1986), embora bem menos conhecidos que estes, e desde sempre reverenciado pelo primeiro, padrinho da Velha Guarda da Portela — eles dividem a cena em uma roda no documentário “Partido alto” (1982, 22 minutos), de Leon Hirszman (1937-1987), disponível na plataforma Tela Brasil.
Marisa Monte caprichou na produção, cercando Argemiro de instrumentistas e convidados especiais que ajudaram, à época, a chamar a atenção para a qualidade de suas composições com o artista ainda vivo. Entre estes figuram a própria Marisa, Moreno Veloso, Paulão Sete Cordas, Teresa Cristina (parceira na ótima e irônica “Amém”), Marcelo D2 e a Velha Guarda da Portela.
A história caiu no folclore do samba, alguns atribuem o causo a Vinícius de Moraes (1913-1980): reza a lenda que um dia havia uns senhores bebendo em algum botequim e chegou o jovem Argemiro, que então escrevia seus primeiros versos. A curriola provocou: andam dizendo que você é compositor. Faz aí um samba sobre essa garrafa. E Argemiro retrucou, sem perda de tempo e mostrando de que barro era feita sua obra: mas eu não estou sentindo nada por ela. Quem ouvir “Argemiro Patrocínio” entenderá. O álbum está sendo reeditado em vinil pela Três Selos/ Rocinante e está em pré-venda.
