A história é manjada e até quem nem tinha nascido já viu cenas daquele feito histórico. Brasil 70: A Saga do Tri, minissérie da Netflix, surge com a proeza de fazer o que Neymar, Vini Jr, Carlo Ancelotti e companhia não conseguiram antes de partirem para mais uma Copa do Mundo: resgatar a esperança por mais um título da Seleção Brasileira. O time atual divide tanto as opiniões que há quem diga que vai torcer contra. A produção é emocionante e não se espante se lágrimas escorrerem ao ver um gol ou mesmo um lance espetacular das partidas. O futebol provoca lá essas coisas.

Pai e filho, Paulo e Pedro Morelli, e mais Quico Meirelles, contam os bastidores do tri conquistado pela Seleção na Copa do Mundo da Fifa, em 1970. O campeonato foi no México, mas a série se passa também no Brasil, onde uma ditadura militar fazia marcação cerrada na sociedade e nos jogadores. É nesse vaivém que a relação de amor entre torcedores e atletas se constrói aos poucos. O time partiu desacreditado, com muitas dúvidas e deixando para trás uma nação que vivia amordaçada. Foi num cenário de asfixia social que o regime militar acionou a máquina de propaganda ufanista, transformando o hino “Pra frente Brasil” e os seus “90 milhões em ação” em uma política de pão e circo escancarada.

A genialidade daquele time, contudo, operou um milagre ambíguo: fez o torcedor abraçar um orgulho legítimo, dando um chega para lá na manipulação do Estado autoritário e se jogando na torcida genuína das arquibancadas. E o título conquistado fez mais do que perdurar por muitas décadas no imaginário de todo o planeta. Deixou a eterna dúvida: haverá um outro time como aquele? Alguns poderão dizer que a equipe de 1982 ou a de 2002 podiam ser comparadas. Outros, poucos, a de 1994. Mas a aura, de verdade, foi imortalizado por aquele plantel do Brasil de 1970.

A produção da O2 Filmes recria os bastidores de uma Copa do Mundo. Baseado em fatos reais, Brasil 70 conta o que havia por detrás de cada partida que o Brasil enfrentou, que formam o clímax narrativo dividido em cada um cinco capítulos. É como um convite para que o espectador se torne, ele também, um torcedor, alguém com o privilégio de vivenciar aquele Mundial. As cenas gravadas em campo, com os atores, literalmente, com a bola no pé e fazendo as mesmas jogadas imemoriais são de tirar o fôlego. A câmera pulsa, balança e chacoalha o espectador tal como ocorre dentro de campo. Todos sabemos que vai sair um gol, mas até mesmo o mais empedernido e crítico dos boleiros vai ver que os lances ficaram muito parecidos – e tocantes.

Como não se encantar/torcer/prender a respiração diante de um lance como Pelé chutando do meio de campo para tentar encobrir o goleiro Ivo Viktor, na vitória de 4 a 1 contra a Tchecoslováquia. A jogada é famosa, mas revê-la de uma outra forma e sabendo que por trás do camisa 10 havia um personagem com todos os seus dramas pessoais dá um outro sentido. Brasil 70 dá o devido protagonismo a Pelé, interpretado por Lucas Agrícola. A semelhança física entre os dois é espantosa. Mas não só isso. O que o trio de diretores fez de valioso foi ressuscitar a importância de Pelé, que a própria Confederação Brasileira de Futebol (CBF) fez questão de omitir por muitos anos: o “Atleta do século” foi e continuará sendo brasileiro.

Criada por Naná Xavier e Rafael Dornellas, a série Brasil 70 escalou três atores de peso para interpretar personagens-chave. Bruno Mazzeo é Zagallo, que, detratores à parte, faz valer a máxima do único campeão mundial como jogador e treinador da história do futebol: “Vocês vão ter que me engolir”. Ele mostra um técnico que entrou desacreditado, já com uma Seleção montada, mas tendo de formar o espírito de equipe ao longo do torneio.

Quem já viu de perto os preparativos e mesmo um campeonato sabe que há pressões por todo o lado, e muito cerco da imprensa. A escalação da Netflix incluiu Rodrigo Santoro como João Saldanha e Marcelo Adnet como Eusébio Teixeira, um comentarista azedo e um narrador empolgado. Saldanha foi o treinador que classificou a Seleção para a Copa de 1970, mas por ser “comunista” é afastado. É célebre a frase dele para o general Emílio Garrastazu Médici: “O presidente escala o ministério, a Seleção escalo eu”. E, uma vez demitido, voltou ao posto de comentarista. Sempre crítico à Seleção e mais ainda aos militares, o personagem do ex-treinador mostra uma consciência crítica que faz falta nos dias atuais. E Zagallo foi obrigado a conviver com essa sombra durante todo o Mundial.

O jornalista Diego Souza Carlos, no site Adoro Cinema, entrevistou diretores e atores de Brasil 70 e ouviu de Ravel Andrade, que interpreta o genial Tostão, o desafios para gravar essa série: “A gente acordava às 6h e às 6h30 da manhã e já estava com o pé na grama aquecendo. Tinha preparação, fisioterapia… a gente viveu uma rotina de atleta mesmo, com disciplina de atleta também (…) A gente reproduziu muitas jogadas. Para cada jogada que fazíamos, ensaiávamos durante uma semana inteira. Foi tudo muito intenso”.

Esta dedicação técnica na reconstrução dos lances ganha contornos épicos quando a série retrata a conquista da Taça Jules Rimet. Se em terras brasileiras a paixão era mediada pela tensão política, no México o amor dos torcedores foi puro e imediato. Órfãos de sua própria seleção, os mexicanos adotaram o Brasil como o seu time do coração, criando uma atmosfera mística no Estádio Azteca. O apíce de Brasil 70 se dá justamente na reconstituição desse delírio coletivo, fartamente documentada na época. O momento em que a torcida invade o gramado para carregar Pelé e os heróis do Tri desperta o orgulho nacional. A edição costura com precisão as cenas gravadas com os atores e as imagens de arquivos reais, apagando as fronteiras do tempo. É o audiovisual devolvendo ao espectador a vertigem daquele instante mágico em que o futebol transcendeu o esporte.

Na série, o Brasil 1950 surge como um fantasma na partida entre a Seleção e o Uruguai, o do Maracanaço, que fez Nelson Rodrigues criar a expressão “complexo de vira-lata“. Ainda que 1958 e 1962 tenham sufocado esse sentimento, foi apenas no Tri que o espírito mudou. O Brasil 2026 bem podia revisitar o Brasil 70 para se inspirar e inspirar uma nação tão polarizada e que sequestrou até mesmo a camisa da Seleção por motivos mesquinhos e nada democráticos, aliás.
