A Guarda Civil Metropolitana (GCM), polícia subordinada à Prefeitura de São Paulo, promoveu na tarde desta terça-feira, 19, uma violenta tentativa de reintegração de posse do Teatro de Contêiner Mungunzá, complexo cultural e social independente localizado no centro da cidade de São Paulo. Nos últimos 9 anos, o Contêiner (instalado em um prédio anexo ao terreno em que ficava o muro que cercava a Cracolândia, na Luz) se converteu em um dos principais esforços de recuperação de uma área urbana degradada, com mais de 4 mil atividades artístico-sociais realizadas no período.
Primeiro, mantendo equipes e membros da ONG Tem Sentimento sitiados no local, impedindo o acesso aos objetos pessoais dos trabalhadores da cultura do espaço, e depois fazendo uso até de spray de pimenta, a polícia alegava cumprir ordem judicial. Os gestores do teatro rebatiam, mostrando que há um inquérito em curso no Ministério Público que visa responsabilizar autoridades e impedir a ação, que pode ser irreversível se levada a cabo. “Vocês não têm vergonha de se prestar a esse papel?”, afirmou uma atriz que a GCM tentava retirar do espaço. A prefeitura quer desapropriar a área com a justificativa de querer implantar ali um programa habitacional.
A ação da Prefeitura de São Paulo é a segunda movimentação truculenta contra espaços de artes cênicas da capital paulista. Em fevereiro, a administração municipal mandou demolir, de forma acintosa e ao arrepio da legislação de patrimônio, o tradicional Teatro Vento Forte e a escola de capoeira Angola Cruzeiro do Sul, no Parque do Povo, no Itaim Bibi. O ato violento de hoje se reveste de maior cinismo quando se nota que foi realizado exatamente quando se celebra o Dia do Artista de Teatro. Artistas, público e simpatizantes prometem manter uma ocupação permanente a partir dessa quarta-feira, 20, para impedir a demolição.
Após a demolição do Vento Forte, o secretário de Cultura do prefeito Ricardo Nunes, Totó Parente, chegou a se comprometer publicamente com a reconstrução do complexo do Parque do Povo. Até hoje, entretanto, nada avançou. Os gestores do Teatro do Contêiner desconfiam do mesmo intento em relação à ação desta terça – a maior preocupação que a prefeitura demonstra tem sido em atuar para satisfazer empreendimentos imobiliários privados e seus planos de investimentos nas áreas de usufruto coletivo e de promoção da cidadania. Não há registro, nem no auge da ditadura militar, de uma administração pública que tivesse investido com tal sanha destruidora contra espaços culturais.
“O Teatro de Contêiner precisa ser replicado como política pública, e não aniquilado”, protestou o ator Mateus Solano. “A prefeitura de SP quer ‘revitalizar’ expulsando cultura! O despejo do Teatro de Contêiner Mungunzá é mais um ataque ao povo: em vez de somar moradia + cultura, escolhem o autoritarismo. A prefeitura prova que não sabe governar para gente, só para concreto”, afirmou o vereador Jilmar Tatto, da oposição a Ricardo Nunes.
Ainda esta noite, o Ministério da Cultura e a Funarte, organismos do governo federal, emitiram nota de repúdio à ação policial empreendida pela prefeitura de São Paulo. “Em ofício, até agora sem resposta, enviado ao prefeito Ricardo Nunes pela ministra da Cultura Margareth Menezes e pela presidenta da Funarte Maria Marighella, foi solicitada a ampliação do prazo dado pela Prefeitura para o despejo do coletivo artístico de sua sede, de modo a permitir que os entendimentos iniciados junto à Superintendência do Patrimônio da União para a busca de um novo terreno pudessem resultar positivamente”, diz a nota. “Lamentamos que o uso da força tenha substituído a continuidade do diálogo em prol da arte e da cultura, que cumprem papel relevante junto à comunidade do centro da capital paulista por meio da atuação do Teatro de Contêiner, da Cia Mungunzá e da ONG Tem Sentimento. Reforçamos nosso apelo para que o prazo seja ampliado e a negociação pacífica retomada com a maior brevidade possível”.
