As melhores ideias parecem mesmo surgir de acasos. Assim foi com a mais nova estrela da música eletrônica saudosista, Djane Fonda, alter-ego da cantora e compositora Bárbara Eugênia. O single de estreia, “Hold me now”, e um lyric vídeo serão disponibilizados à meia-noite, nas plataformas de streaming (pré-save aqui).
O nome, que surgiu de uma brincadeira quando a cantora foi discotecar em uma festa de amigos, caiu à perfeição para batizar a personagem, que homenageia a atriz Jane Fonda e promete alguns singles para os próximos meses.
“Eu só posso ver o dia em que estaremos nos braços um do outro”, começa a letra, cantada em inglês. “Hold me now” é uma canção esperançosa, que prevê reencontros em um futuro pós-pandêmico. Na faixa, Bárbara Eugênia (aka Djane Fonda) (letra, música, voz, synths e programações) é acompanhada por Arthur Kunz (synths e programações), Zé Pi (guitarra) e Jojô Lonestar (guitarra, synth e coro).

ZEMA RIBEIRO – Bárbara, como nasce a Djane Fonda? De onde vem a ideia?
BÁRBARA EUGÊNIA – Eu uso esse nome como dj, por causa de uma festa mil anos atrás, que era uma festa cafona que eu fiz com uns amigos, era pra botar aquela roupa que a gente sempre quis usar e nunca teve coragem, eu me vesti toda meio aeróbica e eu era a dj da festa e alguém lançou essa, Djane Fonda, nem lembro quem. Depois disso eu fiquei usando esse codinome, como dj, às vezes, no Puro Charme Baile Show, que era um baile de carnaval que eu fazia com o Tatá Aeroplano e o Rafael Castro, uma galera, também usava, e na minha participação no disco do Frito Sampler, eu também estou lá como Djane Fonda. Então é essa persona, não sei, mais festeira, podemos dizer assim, e bem oitentista, por que vem, claro, a referência a Jane Fonda, maravilhosa, com suas aeróbicas incríveis. Quando eu comecei a fazer esses sons eletrônicos, eu pensei em lançar com outro nome e já me veio usar o Djane Fonda, no final das contas eu desisti de fazer outro nome. Sou eu, tá tudo certo, só que vem esse codinome que é para separar uma outra faceta, uma outra persona. É basicamente isso.
Você dividiu o álbum “Vida ventureira” (2017) com o Tatá Aeroplano, que tem um alter-ego, o Frito Sampler. Alguma influência dele para você assumir outra persona artística?
Essa influência, talvez tenha tido, por que o Tatá sempre me inspira com as ideias, as loucuras dele. Mas realmente esse nome veio por outro lugar. Mas quando o Frito me chamou pra participar [do disco “Aladins Bakunins” (2015)], aí eu falei, não, então é a Djane Fonda, não é a Bárbara Eugênia [risos]. Acho que tem esse lugar mesmo, de explorar outros sons, explorar outros universos e se colocar de outra forma, com outro figurino, com outro nome, por que é uma forma de separar, de mostrar que é uma coisa diferente mesmo, e que essa outra persona tem outras palavras, outras ideias, outro jeito de falar, outro jeito de se vestir…
Djane Fonda é, de algum modo, uma reação ao prolongado isolamento social imposto pela pandemia de covid-19? Como você tem lidado com estes tristes tempos?
Não, não é uma reação, por que já vem vindo de um tempo. A coisa da música eletrônica e da minha produção. Calhou de estar no começo da pandemia quando eu comecei essas produções já pensando em lançar, mas eu já estava criando uns bits antes, tem mais a ver com meu processo de produção musical mesmo, por que eu fui estudando e aprendendo coisas novas e adquirindo uma liberdade e uma independência na produção. Eu tenho muito meu lado místico, que são as minhas práticas e meus estudos holísticos e isso traz uma conexão muito forte, então eu não tive uma baixa, não tenho muitos momentos de tristeza ou de raiva ou de indignação ou de medo, como muitas pessoas próximas minhas têm. Eu foco nas práticas, eu foco na possibilidade do aprendizado, que está sendo uma grande lição, esse momento, viver essa pandemia, então eu busco focar nos aprendizados que eu estou ganhando, na possibilidade, na oportunidade de crescer, de resolver as coisas, de olhar pra dentro, de estar mais, o quê que isso está me trazendo de bom, e não focar no ruim, no externo, no que o mundo me joga, mas como eu vou reagir a isso, então eu posso dizer que eu estou lidando bem por que eu estou bem nesse tempo todo, bastante focada nas minhas práticas, nos meus estudos, que são yoga, tikun, astrologia, vários trabalhos espirituais que eu faço. Quando a gente tem essa conexão o olhar expande um pouco, ele sai do que está aí só gritando, aprofundar na questão, chegar nos porquês, e tirar o bom da pior situação.
“Hold me now” inaugura uma série de singles assinados por sua persona eletrônica saudosista, como você mesma se/me apresentou. Gostaria que você comentasse um pouco o processo de composição e gravação.
Eu tinha uma melodia na cabeça, que é a melodia do synth, e essa melodia, ela me veio até de outro jeito, eu tinha pensado em fazer um outro arranjo, aí teve um dia, ouvindo uma música do Daft Punk, eu pensei “nossa, não, eu acho que eu vou usar essa melodia e vou fazer essa base mais eletrônica, esse som que eu estou buscando”. Aí eu comecei a trabalhar num bit, botei, usei esse tema, a melodia, fiz a letra, e vi que ia ficar muito legal, já fiquei super empolgada, chamei o Arthur Kunz, que é um baterista, um músico de Belém, e ele veio com mais bits, com mais synths, disso a gente partiu pra guitarra, daí eu chamei o Zé Pi primeiro, o Zé Pi gravou umas guitarras, depois eu chamei o Jojô Lonestar, que também botou guitarra, botou também mais synth, fez uns coros, e a música foi crescendo e todo mundo que chegou chegou muito dentro da coisa, foi muito legal. Realmente ela só foi crescendo, enriquecendo e ficou muito linda. A mix, que foi o Renato Cortez que fez, que é um músico, já tocou comigo durante alguns anos, ele foi meu baixista durante um tempo, trouxe também ideias dele. Enfim, todo mundo que veio somou de uma forma muito linda. O processo foi esse, cada um gravou na sua casa, eu fui juntando tudo, ia editando, montando e chegamos nesse produto final, nessa canção que tá linda, eu tenho muito orgulho dela.
Ao fim dessa série, vem um disco por aí?
Eu não tenho a menor ideia. Por enquanto não vem. Mês que vem tem outro single, depois vem outro. Eu acho que eu vou ficar trabalhando, a Djane Fonda vai aparecendo assim. Se vier um disco, virá, mas por enquanto não tem essa ideia, não.
Você participou terça-feira passada (20) da live de lançamento do novo livro de Jotabê Medeiros, a biografia de Roberto Carlos [“Roberto Carlos: Por isso essa voz tamanha”, Todavia, 2021]. Você já conhecia o jornalista? E qual a importância de Roberto Carlos para a artista Bárbara Eugênia?
Conhecia o Jotabê por conta das outras biografias que ele escreveu, ele é bem legal, super conhecedor, foi muito bacana participar da live, por que deu pra ver ele falando, deu pra ver o amor que ele tem nesse trabalho de mergulhar na vida de um artista, e o Roberto tem uma importância gigantesca pro Brasil inteiro. É impossível alguém que passou ileso pelo Roberto, por mais que não curta, não se identifique com a música, mas em algum momento ouvia em casa, a mãe, a vó, o tio, alguém ouvia, o vizinho. É impossível que não tenha algum momento, alguma coisa, uma fase da vida, marcada por alguma canção ou pela figura do Roberto em si. Pra mim, desde criança, minha vó era apaixonada, sempre tive o Roberto na minha vida. e desde meu primeiro show que eu canto música dele. Eu comecei cantando “Eu estou apaixonado por você”, depois eu cantava “Vou ficar nu pra chamar sua atenção”, que só o Erasmo [Carlos] gravou mas a canção é dos dois, depois eu cantava “As curvas da estrada de Santos”, fiz também uma versão de “Sua estupidez” pra TV Folha, aí eu cantei em alguns shows também, enfim, sempre esteve ali presente nos meus shows. Aí uns anos atrás eu fiz o show “As canções que o Roberto fez pra mim”, que era pra ser um show de longa vida, acabou não sendo, mas foi maravilhoso, o que teve foi lindíssimo e foi muito emocionante poder fazer uma seleção de canções, de algumas favoritas e interpretar essa obra tão especial, tão linda. Roberto é muita influência, não tem jeito, ele trouxe muita coisa de melodia, de composição, de arranjo, e o Jotabê comentou [na live] que ele dava, ele escolhia muito o que ele queria, então é bem sobre as sonoridades que ele trouxe para nossa música.
E como está a agenda? Alguma live prevista? O que Bárbara Eugênia ou Djane Fonda vão aprontar por estes tempos?
Por enquanto não tem live prevista, eu pretendo fazer em julho, não tem uma data, é melhor nem falar. Pretendo fazer uma live em julho do “Tuda” [seu disco de 2019], eu não consegui trabalhar ele direito, então eu pretendo fazer essa live. Da Djane Fonda por enquanto não vai ter nada. Talvez mais pro fim do ano faça alguma coisa, mas não sei. Por enquanto vão sair os singles e é isso.
