Desde a morte de meu pai, Itamar Assumpção, em 2003, eu e minha pequena família de mulheres estamos articulando, orientando, organizando e disponibilizando ao público seu legado musical, baseadas, principalmente, no que absorvemos do pensamento artístico de Itamar.

7898444700418itamar_assump_o2Algumas ações executadas foram fundamentais para que esse processo se consolidasse com força: o lançamento do disco gravado com Naná Vasconcelos, Isso Vai Dar Repercussão, em 2004, um ano após sua morte, e o Livro de Canções e Histórias de Itamar – Por Que Que Eu Não Pensei Nisso Antes? ”, em 2006. Nesse mesmo ano, começamos as negociações com o Selo Sesc, na tentativa de viabilizar aquele que é o box com toda a discografia de Itamar remasterizada, e mais dois discos de músicas inéditas. A Caixa Preta (à dir.) foi lançada em 2010.

Os discos inéditos, chamados Pretobras 2 – Maldito Vírgula e Pretobras 3 – Devia Ser Proibido, produzidos por Beto Villares e Paulinho Lepetit, respectivamente, encerram a trilogia imaginada por Itamar e iniciada com Pretobras – Por Que Que Eu Não Pensei Nisso Antes, em 1998 – muito antes do ano do lançamento da Caixa Preta. Como compositor compulsivo e artista disposto ao trabalho que era, ele deixou as músicas prontas e registradas em diversos lugares.

Finalmente, no ano de 2011, foi lançado o longa-documentário Daquele Instante em Diante, que esteve em cartaz por cerca de 40 dias – sem cobrança de ingresso – em todas as salas Itaú-Unibanco do Brasil. O filme, sucesso de público e crítica, continua a ser exibido eventualmente e gratuitamente. Há pouco, o diretor, Rogério Velloso, num movimento arrojado e corajoso, disponibilizou o filme na rede de computadores. Declaro que essa movimentação foi apoiada por mim e por minha família, já que acreditamos no conhecimento e na informação livres, assim como deveriam ser livres – inclusive da burocracia – TODAS as formas de expressões artísticas.

Ao pensar em uma provável biografia de meu pai, obviamente tenho como ideal a situação de estarmos (as herdeiras) acompanhando o processo de escrita, inclusive para contribuirmos com a verdade fundamental – e a não-fundamental – de sua história. Sem sombra de dúvidas, reunimos elementos informativos e afetivos de extrema relevância para o mínimo de entendimento sobre o artista e sua obra. Especialmente minha mãe, Elizena, esposa e companheira de Itamar em seus últimos 35 anos de vida.

No entanto, e talvez por considerar demais improvável a possibilidade de algum biógrafo começar a trabalhar num projeto literário sobre Itamar Assumpção sem antes passar por essas três humanidades primordiais – eu, Zena e Anelis –, considero qualquer tipo de restrição e impedimento jurídico/financeiro/institucional (emoldurados pela forma mais primitiva do capitalismo) ao legado cultural deixado por Itamar – e por outros fazedores de arte – de uma cafonice que só é possível mesmo encontrar no Brasil de meus deuses baianos! Esse monopólio de ações e maniqueísmos na área dita “cultural”é absurdamente retrógrado e obtuso.

É importante que se saiba que as ações de continuidade, derivadas do trabalho de uma vida inteira de Itamar, merecem e precisam de afirmações e revistas constantes e, sim, esperamos e estamos obtendo com elas todo o respaldo financeiro que não apenas nos fora dado por direito legal, mas principalmente, fortemente confiados por meu pai durante toda a sua vida.

Ora. Por que abriríamos mão do mais importante fio condutor da postura artística de Itamar, exatamente essa dignidade e esse sentido de justiça-equilíbrio, incontestes?

Por isso, pessoalmente, não apóio nenhuma vertente de censura. Ainda mais essa que deselegantemente tem se apresentado, a censura reacionária. Aprendi bem pequena que nem tudo o dinheiro compra – ou compra o suposto pequeno poder. Não compram, por exemplo, a memória de um artista talentoso. Não compram o trânsito livre, o livre pensar, o livre fazer, o livre gostar, a liberdade, em toda sua subjetividade sofisticada.

Não compram o caráter sem a mácula da demagogia e do bom-mocismo.

E definitivamente, não compram a paz de um espírito.
